About Jubilee : Christians in Community PDF Print

ImageJubilee was founded in 1998 and is led by Ian & Alyson Mayer supported by a group of voluntary trustees who form the core of our Leadership Team. The Trust also benefits from an Advisory Support Group of volunteers, who advise on, and deal with, specific day-to-day issues.

The Jubilee Advisory Support Group contains a breadth of skills including the areas of business management, financial planning, health education, information technology, training, and community regeneration. The Advisory Support Group is made up of both local and regionally based individuals.

Jubilee is a Christian Community that works in partnership with individuals, groups and organisations. We work in communities, in business, in education, as well as through denominations, Christian networks and churches. Jubilee is made up of families, groups and individuals, who relate together through a network structure. We are not defined by space or geographical boundaries, but by lifestyle and relationship.

The word 'church' usually means an organisational unit operating in a particular locality. Church usually depends on where you live, where you go and what you can do. At Jubilee we are more interested in who you know.

Our vision is to see people develop a meaningful faith in every sphere of their lives. Jubilee is about empowering individuals to make a transforming contribution to society.

Those involved with Jubilee work together through shared relationships, shared values and a shared vision. We all find a value in our relationships with each other and this helps each of us to do what we do individually more effectively. Not only can we share our individual resources, but having supportive and accountable relationships provides a stable platform to work and grow.

Definition(s): Associate - To join as a partner, ally, or friend. To connect or join together; combine. To connect in the mind or imagination. Co-Worker - One who works with another; a fellow worker, a person who works at a specific job. (Webster's Unabridged Dictionary)

The word Jubilee means; a season for rejoicing, a specially appointed period of favour and blessing, a time of liberation and restoration. The Jubilee Community is a place of victory, where faith is built up, the soul is encouraged, and wisdom and strength are imparted. It's an environment where faith lives and faith triumphs through our love and concern for one another.

Jubilee is a registered charity (No. 1077936) and is based in Doncaster in the United Kingdom. We are a member of the Ground Level Network of Churches and we are actively involved in the life of the local church in Doncaster, through regular fellowship with local Christian Ministers.

Jubilee also supports the Doncaster City Celebrations. These meetings are an opportunity for churches in and around Doncaster, from a range of traditions to join together in worship 3 or 4 times a year.

Jubilee is registered with Faith Works and is a member of the Community Empowerment Network (Doncaster).
